toothsi Parent makeO To Acquire Singapore-Based Zenyum

Dental tech startup toothsi’s parent makeO has signed an agreement to acquire Singapore-based oral care brand Zenyum for an undisclosed amount.

Once materialised, the deal will position toothsi as a pan-Asian player in clear aligners, orthodontics, and oral care. As part of the deal, Zenyum will become a subsidiary of makeO, with group headquarters based out of Mumbai.

However, the transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

While makeO cofounder Arpi Mehta will continue as the group CEO, Zenyum cofounder Julian Artopé will remain the Singapore-based entity’s chief executive. Zenyum’s Southeast and North Asia operations will continue to be run from Singapore.

In a statement, the homegrown startup said that the combined entity will operate across 10 countries, including India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.

makeO also said that the combined entity will leverage economies of scale and supply-chain efficiencies to roll out competitive pricing, faster turnaround times, and expanded financing options for patients.

The Mumbai-based startup also said that its in-house clinical and treatment planning teams will support Zenyum’s operations to improve treatment outcomes, speed up delivery timelines and expand product offerings.

“This acquisition is a milestone for the Indian dental tech industry. Our partnership with Zenyum will enable us to accelerate our clinical and product capabilities to serve millions across Asia and help them smile better,” said makeO cofounder and CEO Mehta.

This is the second acquisition undertaken by makeO in the past six months. In August 2025, the teeth aligner startup acquired Andhra Pradesh-based dental clinic chain Apple Dental for ₹10.9 Cr in a cash-and-stock deal.

Founded in 2018 by Shah, Pravin Shetty, Manjul Jain and Anirudh Kal, makeO initially offered teeth aligners under the brand toothsi. In 2022, it merged its brands toothsi and skinnsi under makeO to offer dental, skin and hair treatments on one platform.

Backed by actor Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli, makeO has raised over $100 Mn to date from Eight Roads Ventures, 360 One, Paramark Ventures, among others. It claims to operate a network of 60+ dental centres across the country,

In a statement today, the company claimed that it recently turned EBITDA positive, without specifying any timeline. Going forward, the teeth aligner brand plans to double its dental centres to more than 120 centres.

The company also said that it is exploring selective acquisitions and partnerships with dental chains to grow scale and enhance distribution across India, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

On the financial front, makeO narrowed its consolidated net loss by 32.08% YoY to INR 149.58 Cr in FY24, while operating revenue rose 6.23% YoY to INR 178.94 Cr during the year under review.
